Initiative
The #MLKcommUNITY Initiative was founded by Arleana Waller, founder of ShePower, The Frink Firm & Circle of Life. It is a Rebound Coalition comprised of multiple community collaborative partners and volunteers. The purpose of the Initiative is to bring all hands on deck with all egos checked to support the Southeast area of Bakersfield in its Rebound revitalization movement.

Secured over 50+ jobs at the County low barrior shelter, Census and Core Covid Testing Site.
SPOKESPERSON
2020 Census Spokesperson and community partner to help get the African American HTC community counted.

Partnered with Bank Kern Initiative Talent + Entrepreneur (KITE) & Startitup to give $25,000 value scholarship to 50 startup businesses in Southeast area.

Secured City Property for Community Garden.
Secured Building for The Island- a Southeast Business hub.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION
First organization in Kern County to do a drivetThrough food distribution, giving away over 22,000 pounds of food to over 550+ families
ASSEMBLYMAN RUDY SALAS
Partnered with Rudy Salas & Home Depot for an emergency roof support for a senior citizen in the Southeast area.
CONGRESSMAN TJ COX
Selected to host a Black Leaders Roundtable in the Southeast area with Majority Whip Leader James Clyburn.
SECRETARY OF STATE ALEX PADILLA
Selected to speak on the stage with Alex Padilla to promote 2020 Census at the MLK Center.
GOVERNER NEWSOME
Selected to co-host Governor Newsome Legislative Secretary Anthony Williams, with Supervisor Perez, to tour and talk in regards to the rebound of the Southeast area.
